Doug Wead Regrets Bush Tapes

Doug Wead, the former Bush aide who released the private interview tapes that had George Bush talking about marijuana use [SN reported], is now saying that he regrets making the tapes public and would like to get them back.

Wead was supposed to have appeared on the Chris Matthews program, Hardball, but sent a letter that said, "Contrary to a statement that I made to the New York Times, I have come to realize that personal relationships are more important than history."

He went on to say that he wants to get the tapes "back to the president to whom they belong," and that "history can wait."

What an ass, it doesn't matter if he gets them back now, the contents are known and won't be forgotten.
He's a weak man.

Freddie Mercury and David Bowie.... (Vanilla Ice later stole the bass-line and got sued for it).

Somebody told Wead he was going to get hit or smoked out, lit or burned.... maybe he misunderstood.

This was a terribly thick-headed thing to do. This guy has more nuts than brains.

Usually, the really bad stuff waits a decade or 6 until they release evidence or.... you know... wait until "all concerned" are dead or old anyway.

This is priceless.

And publically regreting it -- MORE PRICELESS.

Heh, just for this guy, I'm downloading "The Jerky Boys - Mr.Weed Man," which is appropriate somehow.

Illegally imported Cuban cigars to celebrate the disclosure, and the fretting about it after the fact!

.. i think he was talking about combined mass, rather than quantity.. if you can image such a large sack, otherwise an extreme small one :)

  History waits for no man.

Too little, too late - that is the nature of regret, is it not? The truth is out, it's too bad that this guy doesn't have the fortitude to stand behind it. For the sake of personal relationships, I could see declining offers for public appearances, but to ask for the tapes back is ridiculous. He is, indeed, a weak man.
