Doug Wead, the former Bush aide who released the private interview tapes that had George Bush talking about marijuana use [SN reported], is now saying that he regrets making the tapes public and would like to get them back.
Wead was supposed to have appeared on the Chris Matthews program, Hardball, but sent a letter that said, "Contrary to a statement that I made to the New York Times, I have come to realize that personal relationships are more important than history."
He went on to say that he wants to get the tapes "back to the president to whom they belong," and that "history can wait."
