Saddam's Half Brother Arrested

Sabawi Ibrahim al-Hassan, Saddam Hussein's half brother, and number 36 on the list of 55 most-wanted Iraqis wanted by the US, has been captured by Iraqi security forces. His arrest was confirmed by Capt. Ahmed Ismael, an intelligence officer.

It is believed that this should deal a blow to the insurgency since al-Hassan was known to be organizing and financing the resistance from Syria.

He was arrested early Sunday, but no other details are known at this time.

  LOL, a nice diversion by the US military
 The situation in Iraq is very fluid at the moment and seems to be very costly for the US as each day goes by. Maybe now is the time to disperse some good news, which is in short supply. I guess Fox and CNN don't want to report on the daily american fatalities, or else they will be labelled "unpatriotic", instead they are happy to spread rumours of Saddam's "half-brother" being captured by "Iraqi forces" which later changes to "being handed over by Syria", quite amusing.

++ Anyway at least you will get half the story here:

  The story has changed...
 and updated since I summarized it this morning. The original version said "captured by Iraqi security forces."

  Quick Question
 Can someone tell me exactly why Saddam's Half Brother was arrested? I'm a bit out of the loop on this whole Iraq-war thing (ignorant 15-y/o) and am just checking whether or not he's being arrested purely on the basis that he is related to Saddam.

  @Gimboid
 That is a very valid question.

Anyone know the answer?

  wasn't he
 wasn't he the head of the secret police ....

  It looks like...
 He was running the Iraqi resistance from Syria. They didn't care about that but then he appears to be involved in the assasination in Lebanon and the Syrians are getting the flack for that. Ergo. Here he is....
