An artist known only as "Banksy" has achieved notoriety for his art, but not in the usual manner. In a prank Banksy and some accomplices smuggled artwork into 4 of New York's most famous museums. One picture of a soup can was left up for 3 days.
The largest picture 2 ft x 1.5 ft, depicting an admiral holding a spray can with anti-war graffiti in the background, was hung in the Brooklyn Museum while in the Natural History Museum a beetle with jet fighter wings and attached missiles was left.
"It was just an outsider's view of the modern American bug, bristling with listening devices and military hardware," says Banksy who claims to have left all 4 pieces of art in the museums on March 13th.
