In a commercial shown during the Super Bowl a man talking on a cellphone inadvertently holds up a store after telling the person on the cell phone they are being robbed. Timothy Connor made no mistake, however, he planned to hold up a Boston bank.
Mimicking the commercial he slipped a note to the teller. Then, talking only into the cellphone, he demanded money and took almost $6k from 2 banks and a store over an 8 day period starting just after noon on March 31, the day after Connor's birthday.
"Watching the surveillance tape, he mimicked that commercial exactly," said a police officer. Connor was arrested after driving down a street the wrong way in an unrelated incident. Police were able to match Connor's face to video tapes.
