Mother Will Give Birth to First Born in Art Gallery

A couple expecting their first baby plan to have the birth in the DNA-Galarie; an art gallery in central Berlin. Winfried Witt the partner of Ramune Gele, who is the mother-to-be, said: "It's a gift to humanity, a once in a lifetime thing."

The owner of the gallery said: "It's a bit of [a] test to see if society can cope." The birth is scheduled for April 24 and around 30 people, who will be contacted as soon as Ramune's contractions become regular, are expected to attend the birth.

The gallery's owner says the gallery will be closed during the birth so "the private aspect will be maintained."

The owner of another gallery nearby said: "I find it mad."

You can't schedule a birth for "April 24"... there are variances of days, if not a week or more most of the time... And seriously, how is this art? It seems like some kind of sick peep show to me.

If you read the article properly, it says "sheduled for April 24th" but the guests will be notified when the contractions are constant or whatever...

Meaning the guests will be expecting a phonecall some time around the 24th I'd imagine.

As for the article itself... I've just been reminded why I don't go to art galleries.

  People are sick
What people will do for thier 15 minutes of fame. And the perversion that pass as 'Art' now.
In my opinion this is exploitation of a minor, the same as they charged the porn actress with when she tried to give birth on a porno. Hey I am sure you can get people who will swear that is also 'Art' lol.

I agree that the whole aspect of giving birth in an art gallery is just retarded. But hey, she isn't hurting anybody by doing it...she could do much worse.

I don't agree, however, with the comments about giving birth being disgusting and perverted. I think it's a beautiful thing, and this is coming from a fifteen-year-old girl. XP

...although the whole vaginal-stretchingness looks really...argh.

It's not really disgusting and perverted in my opinion, it's just something I would choose not to watch.

I hate it when people have nothing better to do than complain about something that they're not even being forced to see.

  What's the big deal?
Did anyone else find the mother egocentric? "It's a gift to humanity, a once in a lifetime thing," she said. I can assure her that babies are born all the time. Quite a lot of the red faced, screaming, stinky organisms enter the world every day.

Oh yeah, to Mr. Negativity and rapscaLLion it is possible that they plan to give her labor inducing drugs. They have a show to do right. Can't have the new brat come late.
