George Lucas has announced at a convention in the US that he plans to create one live action and one animated TV series of Star Wars after Star Wars: Episode III is completed.
The half-hour animated series will expand on Cartoon Network's "Clone Wars" mini-series. The live action series will focus on peripheral characters between Episode III and IV.
The series will not begin production until at least a year after the release of Episode III in order to permit time to write the entire first season at once.
*groan* not ANOTHER SW! The original three were plenty. The new three were OK [...if you like that kind of thing.] The cartoons were kill and this will be over-kill
With the ending of enterprise and no anouncement as to wether there will be a new series for all the trek fans, the time is right for George Lucas to pick up a whole load of disilusioned treckies who are in withdrawl and need their sci-fi fix.
I had wondered what starwars would look like as a series, looks like I finally get to find out.
How did he sellout? The new star wars are probably the biggest independent movies ever made. He made his own film company so he could make these the way he wanted. He used his own money to fund them. It is a great story of one man standing up to the Massive film industry and not giving in, instead doing his own thing and and creating possibly the most popular and famous series of movies ever.
I am sometimes addicted to that damn game... it is like having a lobotomy and replacing the brain with squishy chocolate-nougat. Laser-swords! Guns! Wookies aflame!
Yah? Yer Momma's teeth are so yellow 'I can't believe it's not butter!'
Actually, I am trying to avoid buying new games for awhile. Last thing I bought before this was Tron 2.0, so you can see that I am only an noobish-nerd. However, it's interesting how they are doing a theatrical release of a new TRON movie after the game came out. I am a TRON nerd.
Don't kill no more Nerf-Herders!
Bah! Publicly shaming the only online game I play.... Ah, well. I will buy the sequel, which should be better, I hope. (If there is a sequel...)
Personally, the only 3rd-person shooter I have enjoyed as a storyline has been the Half-Life series, so maybe I can shock myself buy buying the new Half-Life2 since the story is mildly entertaining. Counter-strike I can live without. Oh, and I have enjoyed my shabby russian-language versions of Call of Duty. But the multiplayer version drives me batty. Those run'n'gun games are boring now.
Anyway, I enjoyed some of the Star Wars cartoon 'Droids' a little when it was out on tv ten years ago. I always thought C3PO should be armed with cannons instead of hands since he doesn't do anything with them anyway. He'd be one bad mutherhumper translator/thug. People would act much more polite around him....
bothered to watch the Clone Wars cartoon Volumes 1 and 2? I taped the Cartoon Network marathon on Saturday and watch them all. Totally badass. It's basically like the Animatrix. The lead animation director is non other than Genndy Tartakovsky of Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack fame and he's on. The whole cartoon is pretty much one big fight. You get to see the introduction of General Grevious or whatever is name is and man, he's soooo badass. You see how he collects light sabers from slain jedi and how Dukou trains him to fight Jedi. You get to meet a wannabe Sith that is sent after Anakin and she's badass. And when's it's all said and done, the story line has left you right where the third movie will pick up. In the huge battle staged in order to kidnap senator Palpatine. I'm not sure if they'll show it in the movie or just start with him already kidnapped, but the cartoon shows you how it all happened. Plus there are lots of cool scenes with the Republic Commandos which reminds me a great deal of the Republic Commando game that just came out. All in all, the Star Wars Clone Wars cartoons are great and any Star Wars fan should see them. Not only are they incredibly entertaining, they give side story as to how the Clone Wars progressed and as to how the battle starting at the beginning of the third movie came to take place.
I grabbed them off bittorrent, both seasons and they're great. Yeah the couple of episodes with the Clone Troopers are great, i wont spoil it for you, watch them all, they're great :D
