Hacker gets Eight Months in Prison

 

Jerome T. Heckenkamp, 25, of Santa Monica pleaded guilty for for hacking into the computers of several high-tech companies, including the online auction site eBay Inc..

Heckenkamp could have served up to five years in prison but U.S. District Court Judge James Ware sentenced him to eight months in prison and eight months of electronic monitoring and home confinement. He also has to pay $268,291 in restitution.

for a restitution amount if 268,291 i woudl never work again. atleast not in a place where the US has any rights to get your money.

on average that is 5 years of paychecks at 50K/year. not really anyone can aford that. LOL
