Thousands Gather to Honor War Dead - Organizers Play "Stayin' Alive" During Break

 

Turkey - Thousands of Australians who gathered at Turkey's Anzac Cove to honor their war dead were angered when the BeeGee's 70's hit, "Stayin' Alive" was played on a large screen during a break in the program.

The song, along with "You Should Be Dancin", was played for approximately 20,000 Australians and New Zealanders who had gathered for the somber event. The dawn ceremony was held to pay homage to those who died during Anzac Day in Gallipoli.

Amy Hutton, who attended the event said, "It's not a festival." adding, "You are here to pay respect." Thousands of Australian, British, French, Indian and Turkish soldiers died during the campaign.
