The Formula One’s regulating body, the FIA, has appealed against a ruling by race stewards after the San Marino Grand Prix. The stewards cleared racing team BAR-Honda after accusations that Jenson Button’s car was deliberately too light.
BAR-Honda have denied the accusations, which include a hidden, secret fuel tank installed in Button’s car. Team boss Nick Fry said: “Does anyone really think that we would deliberately do anything against the rules? We've hidden nothing."
Button finished third at the race last weekend. Fry also said: “Given the political situation in the sport we are concerned about everything” and “If anyone is trying to destabilise us, that will not work. We're bigger than that."
