Sony’s PlayStation Portable is set to be released in Europe on the 1st of December – some nine months after it was launched in Japan. The hand-help games and multimedia console will sell in Europe for €249 (£179).
The PSP sells for £50 less in the United States, and Sony has justified the price difference, stating that VAT in the UK is higher than local taxes imposed on goods in the US. A Sony spokesman said: "This is not a case of rip off Britain."
Europeans have been forced to wait longer for the PSP, so that the company would have enough consoles in stock to meet demand in the United States (SN reported).
