Uzbek Forces Shoot at Protestors

Thousands of people who were protesting in the Uzbek city of Andijan, have been fired upon by Uzbek government forces. It all started when armed men broke into a prison, freeing hundreds. Uzbekistan is one of Americas key regional allies.

Up to 23 people have been reported dead, while around 4,000 prisoners have been set free. The government forces have sealed off the city. Included in the 4,000 escaped prisoners, are 23 men accused of being Islamic extremists.
