6 KFC Staff Killed by Anti-US Mob

Workers at a KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) store in Pakistan were killed by an anti-US mob. 4 workers were burned alive while 2 others froze to death after hiding in a cold storage room.

A mob of 1,000 people targeted the KFC in Karachi in revenge for an attack, said to be al-Qaeda linked, on a Shia mosque.

Pakistan has said it will hand over Abu Faraj al-Libbi to the United States even though he is suspected of 2 assassination attempts on President Pervez Musharraf.

ASSESS this news: BLOCK this news. Reason:
  I don't understand this...
Al-Qaeda attacks a mosque and they target a US franchise in return?? Seems to me they should be going after al-Qaeda for attacking the mosque...right??

USA needs to look at itself
US internal newscoverages have never bothered to comment on the rest of the world and although by now many americans realise how badly the world views their actions, it continues. For perspective, in Australia there is currently outrage because the special forces MAY have killed a non combatant in Afganistan over 2 years ago. The USA must stop throwing it's weight around or it will always be an easy target for extremism.

I think the US bombed the mosque
thinking there were al-qaeda hiding there.... is what they mean

although i could not tell either so i tried to leave it as obscure as the original story...
  by: JulesLady     06/02/2005 02:28 AM
Al-Quaeda is Sunni muslim. They hate Shia muslim. The US has lost so much credibility lately that even when a Shia mosque blows up, people assume it is the americans and not their enemy, the sunnis.

Now you know why Al-Queda/extreme american muslims were voting Bush. I was shivering when I was reading their web sites and saw them advocating Bush!!!
I hope his dad is real proud.

  The media is mistaken...
It wasn't that the mob was angry with the U.S. It's that KFC chicken really sucks.
  by: TheReporter     06/02/2005 08:46 AM
From what I get out of this,
the KFC terrorists used a heavy lift chicken to bomb a Mosque on a Sunni day and the Shia’t hit the fan, all because they voted for Bush because he sucks chicken. Am I getting this right? It’s very early and I need my caffeine buzzzzzz.

  How quick we forget!
It amazes me that most of you forget what happened between 1936 and 1945. A lot of people thought that Hitler wouldn’t bother them so they didn’t help their neighbor. Well they were wrong then and you are wrong now. We have seen what the terrorists can do in other countries and all the innocent people that have died for nothing. But yet you are ready to just leave them alone as long as they are just killing there own innocent people. You should be ashamed of your selves.

This was attack on humanity, not on America
Make no mistake about it: This was not Bush or even American military officers working in KFC.
That was Pakistany people cooking chickens. Obviously, there is a demand for this and obviously extremists are against it. This conflict is radicals vs. humanity and progress.

  KFC is Fried Chicken, right?
I would undertand if KFC claimed to sell pork, and even then, killing low wage workers for trying to scratch a living seems kind of radical to me.
Europe has its own terrorist problems, ETA, IRA, etc. I guess al-queda killing 3K innocent people does not count as terrorism, because it was americans who dies, bet they would react differently if it had happened in Berlin, or Paris.
KFC is an american franchise, the local store is owned by a Pakistani, which hires Pakistani and sells to Pakistani, chicken probably grown in Pakistan. I do not see how this would really hurt America, it was Pakistani hurting Pakistani.
These people are so dumb, they kill their own people to make a point that is drowned in so much blood, shed by brothers.
  by: macariov   06/02/2005 05:28 PM
  People ain't dumb down there
they are so sick of american presence everywhere on the globe and they feel treatened so they destroy whatever american symbols they can wether its a KFC or a military convoy.Try to understand why those people act like they do now and look a the background story to clearly understand the situation instead of just ridiculising them.If you can't do it then this kind of thing will only pop up more often on the news.

  This isnt anti-us / anti-race
This is just a bunch of violent tossers who just happened to be Muslim, burning down anything within reach that just happens to be a KFC.

Move along nothing to see here.

You yanks just dont get it do you!
If your theory is true then please explain the following:
Why hasn't Australia suffered any terrorist attacks on its own shores?
Why havent any Australian troops been killed (or even seriously injured) in Iraq... or Afghanistan... or East Timor... or anywhere else?
Maybe, just maybe it has something to do with the attitude of their soldiers, their commanders and their people.

Just because people disagree with your beliefs, doesn't mean they are wrong.
Who appointed USA as the police of the world anyway. Fer Fuk Sake... get out of our faces, look to your own internal problems (get guns out of society for starters) and let the rest of the world get on with fixing up your mess!!!
  by: Terrafried   06/03/2005 02:18 AM
im sure australia is a prime example of this theory failing.
by: Mentally ill   06/03/2005 04:12 PM
America wont listen to anyone...So its pretty pointless really. They wont change their attitude.

Also Americas double standards foreign policy greatly adds to the attitude the rest of the world has to America.

Nothing will change though and its sad...

  It sure is:
Australia became a perfect example of gun control failure. One year after government forced citizens surrender 650 thousand personal firearms:
homicides are up 3.2%.
assaults are up 8.6%.
armed-robberies are up 44%. (yes, FORTY-FOUR PERCENT)
In the state of Victoria, homicides-with-firearms are up 300%!
The steady decrease in armed-robbery-with-firearms that occurred during the previous 25 years became an increase in the last 12 months.
There has been a dramatic increase in breakins-and-assaults-of-the-elderly.
  by: sharpShooter   06/03/2005 09:17 PM
I dont know the truth of your figures, but I wont doubt them. When the numbers are so low to start with a small rise looks like a huge percentage. For instance...If there were 100 armed robberies in Australia (pretty close to the truth Id imagine) and you get 44 more you'll get a huge percentage increase. Youre spooking so called facts... give us the actual figures... I dare you.

Let me give you 1 fact to go on wiht. The total number of killings during armed robberies in All of Australia, in All of this year is .. ready for it... 1. Thats ONE. How many in New York alone say... just last night?? yes crime is up, but look at the overall numbers and go pull ya head in.
  by: Terrafried   06/05/2005 08:02 AM
  gun control...
Gun control is a moot point. Okay, outlaw guns - force citizens to surrender them. I'm sure the vast majority would.
The criminals certainly won't. Illegal weapons will still find their way into the country. Now we have a situation where the criminal always has the upper hand.

"When catapults are outlawed, only outlaws will have catapults..."

It would be reasonable to assume that there have been fewer AUS casualties in the Iraq conflict because Australia has fewer troops there.

While most people, myself included, may not agree with US policy and the reasons for the war, one thing is true: A dictator is deposed, and a people are in the process of being freed.
  by: winterblade   06/07/2005 06:53 PM
A dictator was deposed, ok, you can have that

People are free, I'm sorry, no.

The government is packed full of US cronies, and cronies with no power at that.
Iraqis are free, as long as they do what you want them to do, when they dont, they're terrorists....

If the Iraq'is wanted sadam gone, they should have gotten rid of him.

Externqal solutions dont solve internal problems.
