“Batman Begins”, starring Christian Bale as Batman, has debuted at number one at the North American box office, raking in some US$48.7 million in ticket sales over the three day period ending Sunday night.
“Batman Begins” actually opened on Wednesday and, according to Warner Bros., has shown itself as the most successful of the Batman franchise over the first five-day period. Overall so far the film has made US$72.9 million in domestic sales.
The domestic box office, however, is still in a slump with overall sales dropping 1% despite the big opening, in comparison with the same weekend last year.
