Virgin Atlantic to Create 1,500 Jobs

Sir Richard Branson has announced that he will be adding 1,500 extra staff over the next 18 months to the Virgin Group’s airline, Virgin Atlantic. The budget airline has just opened new routes to Cuba and Nassau.

Branson said he would gradually add some 1,100 cabin crew, 150 ground staff at Gatwick and Heathrow and 100 extra jobs will be created in the airlines head office. 1,000 of the jobs to be created will be completely new positions.

  I agree

Yeah, he's done everything, took his entire brand line to almost everything possible, from trains to cola to music festivals.

And he did it all and still maintained the name Virgin!

Amazing!

  My Brandson Story

When I still lived in the UK working as an audiologist I went to visit a patient in Gloucester. In fact both the husband and wife were patients of mine. I told them I was going to visit America and they asked me if I was going to fly Virgin. I told them I was.

They proceeded to show me a letter from Sir Richard Branson. It turns out that both of this couples children worked as a steward and stewardess on his airline. Not especially important positions in the company, but nevertheless Branson has actually hand written a letter to them using a large felt pen on a company letter head. He had not used a computer or a secretary he had personally sent them a small note just to thank them for ‘letting him have’ their children to work for his company. He also enclosed a ‘small gift’ which was a perfect scale model of a Virgin Atlantic 747, about 18” long.

The fact that a billionaire makes the time to handwrite letters to the parents of his employees impressed the heck out of me.

Turns out that Branson still invites most of his staff to his home for parties on a fairly regular basis. Most people that work for him have met him and they all seem to love their job.

I always try to buy Virgin whenever I can, my pension is with them, and when I fly home to England I always fly Virgin Atlantic. Their service even in economy class has to be seen to be believed.

Sir Richard Branson really is a ‘jolly good bloke!’ If he ever opens a Virgin Hearing Center, I’m applying!
