Hacker Sentenced to Four Months

A 21-year-old hacker from East Bay in Oakland has been sentenced to four months in prison for hacking government computers three years ago. After his arrest, Robert Lyttle said he hacked the computers for the good of the public.

Lyttle has also been fined over US$70,000. His sentence starts in August and following his release from prison, he will have a three year probationary period. For the first four months of this period, Lyttle will be under house arrest.

Lyttle’s hacker alias was “Deceptive Duo”.

What did this guy post on the web???

What information did he post on the web for the "public's good"?

or was it just alerting people of the insecurity??

Without knowing what he posted (and the orignal article doesn't go into that)... it's hard to know whether it was a good sentence or not!!

if you read my post on "Hacker Access 40 million Credit Cards" you might get some info. If I am right (and it's looking like it because he's from Oakland and the guy I was watching on TV was from that area) he would hack into places and let the companies know that they're flawed.

I believe he did cingular (the s..messed my account up) by doing some dumpster diving and such and let them know he could access almost every private piece of info in their system.

I don't know how he was allowed to tell people about it on the Screen Savers, I think he did a agreement that after that appearance he would turn himself in. But yea, I would rather be hacked into and then told that i need to do better than to be cracked into and have my info stolen.
