Red Sox Pitcher Matt Clement hit in Head with Line Drive

Red Sox pitcher Matt Clement was carried off the field on a stretcher after being knocked down by a line drive to the head. Replays showed the force of Carl Crawford's line drive knocked Clement completely off his feet.

He lay on the ground and barely moved for about five minutes before being placed on the stretcher and immobilized with a neck brace. His teammates gathered around him and showed their concern for the All-Star pitcher and friend.

The ball bounced off the back of Clement's head, just behind his right ear, and went into short left field for an RBI single. Chad Bradford was brought in to replace Clement as the Redsox were leading the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 5-1.

  Good God

Can you imagine the impact of that? It went into LEFT FIELD after it hit him in the head.

I've followed Clement since he started in the majors with the Cubs. The guy is/was a stud. I really hope he recovers, but it doesn't sound likely that he will be back given the history of others in his position.

he was never knocked unconcious, as stated in the source article as so "Matt (Clement) himself never lost consciousness" Please change in SN report.

Also, his CAT scan came back negative, so hopefully he comes back soon...
