Lynndie England Guilty of Six Counts

Army Pfc. Lynndie England, 22, was found guilty by a military jury on six of the seven counts she was indicted with. England is the last of nine Army reservists that were charged with prisoner abuse at the Abu Graib prison in Iraq.

She was found guilty of four counts of maltreating detainees, one count of conspiracy, and one count of committing an indecent act. She was acquitted of a second conspiracy count which pertained to the 'leash incident'.

England previously plead guilty in a prior trial but it was thrown out because of a conflicting plea bargain. The sentencing phase of her trial will be heard by the same jury beginning Tuesday. She faces a maximum of ten years in prison.

  My first article
Hope I didn't do too bad.

Now for my comment...
I was glad to hear that she was found guilty of most of the charges and hope she doesn't get off easy in the sentencing phase.

  i still say
it's all a scapegoat because the pictures got out and the government condoned this stuff, as long as it didn't get out, so to cover their asses, they put the ppl in the pictures on trial, easy to see through the lines

  True
But at least some of the guilty are getting punished. They were some of the ones that actually committed the crimes even though the orders were handed down from the top (Rumsfeld) they have a duty to disobey commands that go against the honor they are to carry so ultimately it is they themselves who chose to do the crimes. Though I agree that others involved should be brought to justice...

Every member of the U.S. military
is trained extensively on the laws of armed conflict, the Geneva Convention, and the difference between lawful and unlawful orders. She knew what she was doing was wrong, and she did it anyways. I say throw the book at her.
