Imad Yarkas, from Syria, was sentenced to prison in Spain yesterday, after being convicted of being in charge of the al-Qaeda terrorist cell in Spain, and for helping to organise the terrorist attacks on the United States in 2001.
17 additional men were also convicted and jailed. Two were found not guilty. Yarkas was sentenced to 27 years in prison, while the others will serve between six and eleven years for their part in the attacks.
Yarkas is also known as Abu Dandah, he has condemned the 9/11 attacks and denies knowing Osama Bin Laden. The trial was Europe's biggest.
