While all the white children in Fay Stockley's care got their Christian (first) names written on their forehead, one black girl had the "N" word written on hers. Stockley, 57, says the child, aged 3, requested she write the word on her forehead.
At first Stockley claimed the word referred to a "private joke", later she changed her story and said the word was supposed to read "Tigger" since the group had just read Winnie the Pooh. Stockley is said to look after the children in her own home.
Stockley denied being racist after the incident but was found guilty of “racially aggravated assault” last month and could be sentenced to up to 2 years. The details of the case could not be published until due to a reporting restriction on the case.
