Judge that Cut Park Trees for View Balks

A Federal Judge Jerome Ferris had his gardener cut down nearly an acre of city park trees to improve the view of his upper class estate. After his gardener cut down 120 Mount Baker Neighborhood Park trees the judge agreed to repay the city.

The judge was to reimburse the city for the repair of the park @ $500,000 dollars. After paying $200,000 Dollars with $300,000 still owing and the final payment due 8 1/2 months ago the city has placed a lien on his 2.4 million dollar estate.

Judge Ferris of The U.S. 9th District Court of Appeals has filed suit to get his home owners insurance to cover the total damages to the park. The insurance company claims that they are not liable for intentional and illegal logging on public land.

What he did was a Federal Crime.....

He should also be thrown in a federal prison. That's what would happen to any other person who didn't have political ties. He's a damn felon!

Sickening. The gardener should also get a large tree planted into his rectum.

His insurance company has EVERY right to 'refuse to pay'. He can sue, but he won't win (unless he has a named risk in his policy such as 'Penalties Incurred for being a Corrupt Idiot').

  Disgraceful

He should be thrown in one of his own federal-pound-me-in-the-ass jails. How has he gotten off? He should pay to repair the park AND pay a huge fine.

awful.

If that were you or I..

..there wouldn't even be a question of what to do. We'd be sitting in jail right now, classic "do as I say not as I do"

  Thats terrible

what a selfish act, to cut down trees that arent even on your property just to make your precious "view" better.

  Don't You Love It?

Dont you love how some rich lard like judge who fiddles with himself under his robe can do whatever he wants and not be arrested. None of us 'commoners' could get away with that sort of thing. This just goes to show our society is reverting to a fuedelistic one, where the rich own all the land and can do whatever they would liek to. While us 'common folk' have to pay them to live and are prosecuted for petty things. Don't you love it?

It would appear that this judge sits on the infamous 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. It is possibly the most liberal court in the Federal Court System. It would be a huge victory for the conservative movement if he were to be replaced. Here is a link to the full statement by King County Prosecutor Norm Maleng as to why felony charges were not filed against the a justice sitting on a liberal Federal Appeals Court Justice: http://www.metrokc.gov/ Here is a link to his profile: http://www.appellate-counsellor.com/ Notice, if you will, which President appointed him. Jimmy Carter was not a very good President, but he was a very good liberal. Since his Presidency, he has been a very good citizen. I am only criticizing his Presidency - not his personal achievements. So what we have here is a Federal Judge, sitting on one of the most liberal leaning courts in the country, appointed by a liberal President, avoids felony charges, but somehow we will ignore the fact that he is a liberal. You would think that only conservatives pull stunts like this, but here we have a liberal red handed and no one wants to recognize his political leanings. I think if we think about this long enough we will find a way to blame Bush and the Republicans for all of this. Maybe the Vietnamese gardner is a Republican mole.

  Unlike some..

people, I think the majority of respondents (so far) really don't give a flying f*ck whether this guy is a conservative or a liberal. In any case I think he should be forced to forfeit the estate and repay any monies owed. I also think the gardener should be fined as well.

  lol

You’re reading too far into my comment. I did not know who appointed him further more I don't care nor do I care if it was the 9th circuit (seems to me one appointment to the 9th really wont matter). My comment was only directed to who Bush appoints to any possession, which is answered by cronies.
If you wish to “spin” my one sentence any further you’re welcome to.

you bet your arse he should be. A guy in my neighborhood got thrown in jail for cutting down one tree in front of his house because it was on village property.
