A Federal Judge Jerome Ferris had his gardener cut down nearly an acre of city park trees to improve the view of his upper class estate. After his gardener cut down 120 Mount Baker Neighborhood Park trees the judge agreed to repay the city.
The judge was to reimburse the city for the repair of the park @ $500,000 dollars. After paying $200,000 Dollars with $300,000 still owing and the final payment due 8 1/2 months ago the city has placed a lien on his 2.4 million dollar estate.
Judge Ferris of The U.S. 9th District Court of Appeals has filed suit to get his home owners insurance to cover the total damages to the park. The insurance company claims that they are not liable for intentional and illegal logging on public land.
