Confirmed: Football Legend Best Fighting for Life

The consultant for football legend George Best has confirmed that he is "severely ill" and fighting for his life in Cromwell Hospital, where he has spent the last three weeks. Best played for Northern Ireland and Manchester United in his career.

Best's consultant, Professor Roger Williams, said that the 59-year-old Best is suffering from internal bleeding which is "very difficult to stop". Best received a liver transplant three years ago and is known as an alcoholic.

However, the current infection he is suffering in his kidney is not directly related to his alcohol problems.

  Quite frankly..
.. He deserves it in all honesty, I have nothing against the bloke, but he was given a whole new opportunity to start life over again pretty much. What did he do? Started pissing it all up a wall again. I can understand it's more than hard to get over an alcohol addiction, but he was just going overboard.
