On Thursday, President Bush accepted Harriet Miers withdrawal as a Supreme Court Nominee. Miers was concerned that the confirmation process would burden the White House and its staff.
Bush said "It is clear that senators would not be satisfied until they gained access to internal documents concerning advice provided during her tenure at the White House."
"-- disclosures that would undermine a president's ability to receive candid counsel."
Miers was nominated earlier this month to replace Sandra Day O'Connor.
