Exxon Mobile Posts Quarterly Profit of $9.9 Billion

Exxon Mobile posted a Corporate Record of $9,900,000,000 amid a time when consumers are paying sky-high prices for gas at the pump and for heating their homes.

Exxon's quarterly profit was up 75% from 1 year earlier, and revenue was up to more than $100 Billion, a 32 percent increase.

The record earnings have prompted calls for profits taxes or other penalties on the oil companies.

	Guess this is as good a time as any
	to begin regulating the oil companies. They brought this on, let them now deal with the government fixing the price and cutting their profits. I am not a big proponent of government regulation but this is one industry we all depend on. We cannot allow ourselves to be blackmailed by these crooks. Even Bill O’Riley was appalled by the crass attitude of the oil barons. He interviewed a rep from Exxon just after Katrina and was incised by the brass this guy expressed towards America and the free market system when he said, “we’re in this business to make money” smiling and laughing. O’Riley actually referred to himself as ‘Fidel O’Riley’ expressing how the oil companies got us hooked on oil and now are putting the squeeze on the people. Even O’Riley thought oil prices need to be regulated to prevent the kind of profiteering that followed the hurricanes.

	Because now I feel pissed! I was given a sunfire to SAVE money (which i'm doing, because if I still had my malibu i would be paying around 5 dollars more...) But I rather pay 20 dollars at the pump than 25...

	Does anyone else find it interesting
	that the price of gas went down right before the profits were released for the oil companies? I think they were trying to lighten the blow of this news.

	Their Cost is
	8 dollars a barrel, I was watching Fox News and I belive it was Bill O’Riley going off on an oil CEO or someone to that nature, and asking him why are they charging 60 dollars a barrel. The person couldnt come up with a good anwser.
