Fox News Sued For Harassing Women

The US equal employment opportunity commission is suing Rupert Murdoch's Fox News Channel for what it calls a "hostile work environment" for women following an investigation into claims by a former employee.

Vice president in charge of promotions and advertising at Fox, Joe Chillemi was singled out in the investigation saying he "routinely used obscenities and vulgarities when describing women or their body parts"..

The law suit follows an out of court settlement for the channel's most popular talk show host Bill O'Reilly who settled a harassment case brought last year by one of his producers.

  I don't see...

...what the fuss is about. Most women need to grow up, they act like they don't use obscenities and vulgarities to describe men and their body parts. My mom and her friends at work are employed in a place where the majority are women, and they bring in a blow-up doll with a picture of their boss's face taped to it, and he laughs about it. I bet if their boss did something like this though, they'd flip out.

  I'm also willing to bet....

...that if this same woman was using the same type of language to describe men that there wouldn't be a problem... stupid double standards, when men are dirty they're disgusting, when women are dirty though they're sexy.

  maybe

but when most woman say stuff like that they are sexy and when most guys say the same stuff they just sound creepy...

I think it depends on where you work...

I do videogame QA, and some of the places I've worked it was ok to be rude, use fowl language and all that. At those places, often enough the games we were working on were usually mature. On the other hand, Some of the other places where they mainly made kids games, or were very corperate (like Sony), that behavior wasn't tolerated.

I would have to say, and this is just a guess, that Fox News falls into the latter.

  I agree yerp

but guys are the ones that have set the standard. Just like its cool for a dude to screw everything in sight but when a woman does it shes a dirty whore.

Oh of course we did, we designed and love the fact that we can now be dismissed from our job for saying to a woman 'hey you look good today'. Where as if another woman says it to a woman, or a woman says it to a man thats ok, but if a man says it to a woman he is sexually harrasing her and making it uncomfertable for her to come to work *rolls eyes*.

Wemon endorce the whole wemon with many men = whore while men with many wemon = god. If a guy is dating 4 girls and they all find out, they all immedietly fight each other for him, blaming the other wemon not hte man. In the reverse maybe a couple of guys would fight if they felt they 'loved' her, but most would walk away calling her a dirty whore.

You must be talking about children or high school students or something. Most grown women are not going to fight another woman over a guy when they find out he has been screwing around they will either deal with it, leave him alone, or get revenge. Please note that I said WOMEN not little girls. I have yet to hear of a guy being fired just for telling someone "You look nice today." If he was fired then there is most likely more to it than that. Not saying that it has never happened in the history of this planet but that is highly unlikely.

Punishing the whole body because of a single cell

I'm not suprised that someone is suing the whole company just because of a small minority.

And this small minority somehow stereotypically represents the whole station according to what's I'm reading above.

  Unequal equality

@h0tdamn365 is right. The reality is that women can be more crude and embarrassing than men ever are. The culture endorsed by the likes of Cosmopolitan is very much about multi-partner sex lives and infidelity. Cosmo even ran an article on how to be a "great mistress"! As with most other equality arguments, women seem to want equality but only in those areas they choose. Women either want equality or they don't. As has been said, if it was a woman making lewd remarks it would have been different altogether. And as for "grown women" - grown women can be extremely crude too - this is about being normal and human. The real difference is that men don't make an issue of it whilst women play the gender card.
