Honda Recalls 2006 Civic

Honda Motor Co. has already issued a recall for the 2006 Honda Civic. The accelerator pedal was improperly installed on about 25,000 of the vehicles. It could cause the throttle to stick and increase the likelihood for a crash.

There have been no incidents reported because of the poorly installed pedal, but the recall will nix the potential. Most of the 25,000 cars have not been sold and are still on dealers lots. A dealer found the problem during a new car inspection.

  I guess

This is why you should probably wait until a car has been out for a year or two before you buy it.

  yea, that's serious

nothing like a damn sticky petal...I remember mine did that and it scared the hell out of me. (just got caught on car mat though..not a serious defect)

If I could afford one, I would buy a honda SUV. They seem gas friendly and seem to have enough to get me buy with (like an element)

I dont know, the way gas price are and the specs

Fuel Tank Capacity: 26.4 gal.; EPA Mileage Estimates: 13 mpg / 18 mpg; Range in Miles: 343.2 mi. / 475.2 mi. That is 66 dollars a fill up (2.50 a gallon) at 4 times a month that is about 3400 dollars a year on gas. For me, I have been checking out mpg, if you have the money, be my guess. It is a nice looking car, but crapy gas mileage.
The Element

Cost of a Fill-up
$34.06

Miles on a Tank
315 miles

Tank Size
15.9 gal

Cost
$1624

I'm guessing if you are concerned about the cost of gas you are not going to be buying a Porsche.

I still think the element is dog ugly. I'm not much on SUVs though.

  strange

with the specs u give drew man, it seems like your element only grabs 19 mpg, and holds only a mere 16. So with your calculations that you would NEED to fill up 4 times a month, that means with the cayenne your driving 1492/1900 miles a month, but somehow if you get an element, your only gonna drive 1260 miles. What im trying to say is, having the cayenne may indeed cost 3400 a year, but having the element will not cost that significantly less. Most likely you wont fill the cayenne up 4 times a month. your gonna spend the same on gas a year give or take a few hundred.

I made this comment yesterday, but the server crash deleted it.

Since you like the Element why not get you a Scion xB "box". They are even more "box-like" than the Element.

  Scion=fad we'll all laugh at

I don't trust Toyota on the Scion...looks like it'll burn if toppled

I like the Element because Hondas are like herpes...last a damn long time. I know someone who had 500k on his Honda...but it finally died on him recently.

  I agree,

Hondas are tough cars.

 by: lurker     11/17/2005 02:57 AM
  Sure

Honda's are tough. I own a nice Acura myself. I don't agree that Scion is a bad concept, it seems to be working. But to even compare a Porsche to a Honda is an insult. And if you think the Element is a nice looking car you have no taste, pure and simple.

  Heh,

ZCT, that's what they told me when I bought my new 1987 Honda Civic Wagon. I loved that car!
