Democrat Calls for Iraq Pullout

A call from for an immediate troop withdrawal from Iraq by a senior member of the US Democratic Party has been announced as US President George Bush's job approval rating touches a new low of 34%.

A leading Democrat voice on military issues, John Murtha of Pennsylvania announced, "The US cannot accomplish anything further in Iraq militarily. It is time to bring them home."

On Wednesday US Vice President Dick Cheney, described such criticism of the war and the Bush Administrations handling of the war as "dishonest and reprehensible." Cheney’s own approval rating has fallen to 30%.

  Unfortunately

It would be a very bad thing for our troops to come home. The country is on the brink of civil war and the Iraqi soldiers are very undertrained. So unfortunately we will have to be there a long time to somewhat stabilize the country and try to prevent terrorists from being in the country.

" The country is on the brink of civil war.."

Who brought it to the brink?

" So unfortunately we will have to be there a long time to somewhat stabilize the country.."

A country that was already pretty stable before it was invaded.

".. and try to prevent terrorists from being in the country."

If the US, and the other invading countries, left, there would be no reason for the 'terrorists' to stay.

Not picking on you Trey, just wanted to address a few points you raised.

  Let the smear begin...

This guy is already under rabid attack by the Right. His service, his integrity - with the way they're speaking, you'd think he just turned over his medals to Al-Queda in exchange for a suicide vest. Sickening, nothing is sacred anymore, not that we didn't know that with the way McCain and Kerry were treated.

GOP memo touts new terror attack as way to reverse

And a bit more:
GOP memos no longer talk of “victory” in Iraq but use the term “successful resolution.”

“A successful resolution would be us getting out intact and civil war not breaking out until after the midterm elections,” says one insider.

But Bush has said that there will be no leaving as long as he is president. So the compromise will probably be that some of the troops will be sent home. Or to Syria..

  I think

the Bush admin. doesn't care what anyone thinks. "If you are not with them you are against them." They have proven that. They vilify any discourse, no matter how warranted.

I completely agree. It was way more stable than it will be for a very long time before our government invaded. Unfortunately the harm can't be undone by simply leaving. :/

  Watch the smearing start

Another good man has stood up, John Murtha.

Time for the Chicken Hawks to start the smear campaigns in motion again.
You remember the cowards that refused to serve or used thier daddy's influence to hide in a Champaigne Squadron during the Vietnam war.

the country is at war now... and has been the 3 years, and even before that the US was commiting acts of war on iraq (bombings under clinton and bush sr.). removing saddam as good as msot people hail it is and was a bad move for the stability of iraq, having the US simply being there or in the middle east for that matter ensure there will not be stability.

btw... i civil war would actually be a step in the right direction at this point atleast in a civil war the US wouldn't have involvement as it doesn't and rightly should concern them anymore than the LA riots or the recent new orleans looting is of concern to iraq.

star shadow brings up the point that has been being said for all too long the terrorist the insurgents whatever they are to be called are there fighting because of the US... the US is not there fight because of them.... the US took war to iraq and thusly to americans (as they are the one fighting it)... its not bush's and cheney's neck on the line... its the average tom & joe... and they are the one paying for the war at the hands of the US government... and americans (as a whole; generalizing) support this enough to allow it to continue.
