Girlfriend Receives Deadly Peanut Butter Kiss

Monday, Fifteen-year-old Christina Desforges died after kissing her boyfriend. The cause is said to be anaphylactic shock induced from peanut residue on her boyfriend’s lips.

While no official cause of death has been released allergist Karen Sigman claims residue left on the lips could cause such a reaction.

Parents having children with such allergies are encouraged to instruct them about food consumption and to watch out for anything containing allergens. Children with allergies are also urged to let friends know about such allergies.

  title is misleading

Slain implies intent and either amusement or with intent. The boyfriend did not intent to kill her or kill her for amusement, but rather by accident.
As for allergies, my daughter is allergic to peanut butter, however the third part of the summary is knee jerking. Parents with childen with allergies should inform their childen of said allergies, however at 15 y/o should not monitor. The child is almost an adult and should monitor themselves...
"Parents having children with such allergies are encouraged to monitor food consumption and watch out for anything containing allergens"

Should read "Parents having children with such allergies are encouraged to teach their childen about such allergies."

  She

should have told her bf about the allergy (im assuming she knew). If my gf was allergic to peanut butter I wouldnt eat a peanut butter sandwich then kiss her without cleaning the old mouth out in some form.

Very sad though. Feel sorry for the bf and the girls family.

  It could havebeen avoided

had the bf practiced some type of common oral hygiene.

  sorry...

... sometimes brushing teeth and washing hands doesn't work. peanut proteins can remain allergenic on surfaces even after being cleaned off for months afterwards. my son and i both have multiple anaphylactic allergies, and we've both had reactions from being touched by people who had washed with soap, changed clothes, everything. some people are sensitive enough that the only safe way to live with them is to give up their allergenic foods entirely yourself.

it's very sad that this girl died because either she didn't realize exactly how sensitive she was, or her boyfriend didn't understand how pervasive peanut proteins are, or either of them weren't clear on how lethal a stupid sandwich could be.

lol! i know breaking up is hard to do and all, but that would be quite a cop-out. :D

i had a boyfriend who kept eating things i was allergic to, then got pissy when i said i couldn't kiss him afterwards. took it as a personal affront. people react strangely to things like that.

Is allergic to nuts, not in the uber serious way, but it can always get worse... so our apartment is a nut free zone.

It's a shame cos I really used to love nuts / tracker bars etc and things like that which i can't eat. Even when I'm away from her I can't eat anything in case protiens get suck between my teeth or something, or in my fingernails etc :(
