The American Racing Pigeon Union says that Chicago is the only city that bans pet pigeons and they say it is not fair. The court upheld a lower court ruling against claims by some enthusiasts that the ordinance is unconstitutional.
"We're not hurting anybody," said Karl Wollenhaupt with the Chicago racing pigeon club. "This sport has been in existence for hundreds of years, but the city says these birds are bad, dirty and evil. These are birds of pedigree."
The pigeons coo noisily and litter the area with feathers and droppings, supporters of the ban said.
