Galileo Satellite Launch Good to Go

The launch of the first Galileo demonstrator spacecraft has been given the go ahead by the European Space Agency (ESA). The Giove-A is the first step to a European global satellite navigation system and it will test key components in the network.

The Galileo project has been estimated to cost some €3.4 billion, and is jointly funded by the private and public sectors. Currently, Europe relies on the American Global Positioning System and Giove is the first satellite Europe has set in orbit.

Some 30 satellites will make up the full Galileo network.

Because of Bush and his government countries world wide are looking for ways not to rely on anything American. This is just another example, forget the fact that this is going to be far superior to the UsGPS Europe has just had enough of The current US govenrnment

  Yep

€3.4 billion... just to show they don't like Bush.

Think, don't just Bush-bash for no reason. I hate the man, he's an utter moron but this is being made because it's better not because they don't like Bush.

  It's because they don't...

to serve anymore the USA, and even the Britts participate in this project of real indenpendence. By the way, why using the euro units? It's not the money for the losers?

Often good to be the second

to do something: remember color TV (NTSC = Never The Same Color) was great when launched but Europe's PAL system ended up superior, Same with GPS that doesn't work indoor or in tunnels: now we'll have a more performing [and precise]system.
And yes, better to have the keys of the house. Just imagine a nut like Busheney suddenly switching off GPS or scrambling civil access to an even lesser precision thus affecting some key components of the European economy.
Too bad the Europeans have so much internal fights on where to put the offices, headquarters etc etc thgus delaying the full operability of the system.
The question remains, how much will the ueser have to apy to access the signals ???

  even the Britts participate ...

that may be the one weak point in the system. They will want full usage, they will want a rebate to use it and give it away to their masters

What do you mean? from the name i take it your french (le sulk?) if so i guess its sour grapes for losing the olympics and in the process being voted against by other European countries in favour of Britain. anyways here is some intresting literature regarding European dislike for current US government
