Chile's Supreme Court has refused to drop criminal charges against Gen. Augusto Pinochet in regards to the disappearance in 1975 of six dissidents. Pinochet has been under house arrest since the 24th of November because of the charges.
It remains unclear whether or not the 90-year-old former dictator will ever go to trial to face charges of breaching human rights and corruption. It is expected that the lawyer representing Pinochet will ask that he be declared unfit for trial.
Pinochet took power in Chile in 1973 with a bloody coup and ruled until 1990.
