Ford's assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario, will manufacture the all-new 2007 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX. The Oakville plant is Ford's first flexible plant located in Canada. They will be built alongside the Ford Freestar and the Mercury Monterey.
The Lincoln MKX will be the first Lincoln to be built in Canada since 1936, when less than 200 Lincoln Zephyr models were built in Windsor, Ontario. Mercury and Ford brands have been the only models made by Ford in Canada in the last 102 years.
The Edge and MKX crossover utility vehicles go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2006.
