Australian actress Nicole Kidman has accepted the role of a Good Will Ambassador for the United Nations. Specificially, Kidman will be working with the United Nations Development Fund for Women, which aims to end violence against women.
Kidman said her parents inspired her to take the new role. She said: “My family, we sat around the table, we had political discussions. My father always said ‘You need to be involved. Don’t be a voyeur, be a participator.’ ”
Kidman will initially visit Sudan, the Congo, Afghanistan, Liberia and Cambodia. She called her acceptance of the role a lifetime commitment.
