Vietnam Vets Win Agent Orange Case

Seoul, South Korea – A Court has awarded 6,795 Korean veterans of the Vietnam War $63 Million in a ruling against Dow Chemical and Monsanto Co.

The two companies are manufacturers of dioxins, a major ingredient used in the production of the pesticide Agent Orange. Many veterans have complained of long-term health problems, such as cancer, as a result of Agent Orange exposure.

Behind the US, South Korea made up the largest group of foreign troops in Vietnam. South Korea sent an estimated 320,000 troops to Vietnam to help the US led war from 1964 to 1972.

  Well
Comes out to an average payment of 10 grand each. I don't think my long-term health is worth 10,000 dollars. Better than nothing though.

  and the others ...
There are other [chemical] companies who have reason to be ashamed of what they were doing.
Bayer , BASF and others have paid for WW2 (INM and the japanese did not) so it is only fair that the Fortune 100 who have dirty hands pay their bills.

  remember
This trial was in Korea not the US. If it was in a US court I gaurantee that the vets would have lost.
