An Islamic State has been set up by the Taliban in Waziristan. Criminal elements who previously held power in the region have been brutally eliminated, leaving the Taliban to "in effect rule in the rugged territory," Asia Times magazine reported.
From the Friday Times: "the growing influence of militants have forced tribesmen in the restive North and South Waziristan to migrate to adjacent districts of the North West Front(ier) Province."
Waziristan is a province of Pakistan that borders Afghanistan.
