Bird Flu Strain Found in a Scottish Swan

Further tests are being carried out on a wild swan that was found dead in Fife, Scotland, to confirm if it has H5N1, the deadly bird flu strain.

The bird was found 8 days ago by Tina Briscow, 68, who was advised to call different authorities before anyone responded. She complained about the lack of urgency shown; in her words "It was over 12 hours later when someone came to collect the bird."

This is not the first case of bird flu in the UK since it was found in exotic Taiwanese birds at a secure animal unit in Essex last October.

another man made virus, just like HIV, hiv killed people, bird flu killin birds, and now u hear it can mutate and kill millions, i guess the scientists took it upon themselves to do something about the ever growing world population and it's limited resources. two thumbs up!

I hear more BS and non factual garbage flow out of your mouth then anyone else on this site. HIV has killed not a single person, and it was not government created.

It Has Been Confirmed As The H5N1 Strain.

  h5n1

obviously it is not the "H5N1" strain that everyone is so frightened over i mean did they just think that the swan had the bird flu (i will refer to it as BF)?

i think that the swan might have just died, not from this deadly BF strain

what was it coughing?? did it have a fever??? how rediculous

also everyone knows that because swans are so graceful they are non-succeptable to any sort of BF strain

  Two more

birds are being tested for H5N1. I can't believe this first bird was found what, 8 days ago and we have only just heard about it.
Yes Funkman, HIV hasn't killed anyone but AIDS has. I do hope your 'two thumbs up' was your attempt at irony.
LMAO @ Emp3r0r.
This virus can and will mutate, lets hope it mutates to a non human threatening virus.
