Joker Gets Murdered

Yelena Skoryatina, a russian, was brutally murdered during a company party by Denis Saunin, the security guard of the factory she works in. His brother helped him with the body. She joked and told the ex-army guard that she was a an ex-Chechen sniper.

Yelena stated that the Chechen warlords Maskhadov and Basayev were good people fighting for their freedom. Saunin later confessed: "The light dimmed in my eyes as she said this and I thought — I must avenge them (our boys).."

It appears the ex-soldier gave her the 'sniper treatment' and killed her in a method reserved for enemy snipers. The investigator later concluded that Yelena was short-sighted since birth and could not have been a sniper.

Read the source. Too many details worth reading. Got to love a media that does not care much about political correcteness and sensitivites.

  Well...

All things considered..I expect most people here to call the victim stupid, rather than condemn the crime..

  The Sniper Treatment

That was a fairly graphic tale, very brutal. I can't even imagine the kind of pain she must have been in. The fact that this was a kind of ritual murder makes it even the more chilling.

I was curious what they meant by

'Sniper Treatment' but the source explained it pretty damn clearly. This man diserves the same treatment if not simular, considering he himself deems this a fitting method of execution.

That be said the Russians are very hot headed, not smart to brag about killing, or even pretending you killed, their friends.

  Justified...

If she had indeed been a sniper, would the news have been reported differently? Would the man recieve a lighter sentence or no sentence at all? This was an act of revenge - totally misguided and brutal to the extreme.

This story reminds me of Bill Maher when he commented on his show, "Politcally Incorrect" (ABC) about the 9/11 terrorists that flew the planes not being cowards - as Bush claimed. In Maher's view the pilots, like any fanatical follower, made the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of others.

The tie-in of these two issues is that both Maher and Skoryatina had their lives radically changed when they expressed an unpopular view to an overly sensitive audience. The question is, if the woman had not claimed to be a sniper - would she still have been slain for arguing in defense of the enemy?

  *Clarification*

The source did not refer to this as the 'sniper treatment'. That term I heard before when reading about WWII

Wasn't a smart thing to do...

Yelena Skoryatina didn't seem like she had a lot on the ball. To tell someone that you may have killed their friends, and possibly relatives, isn't the brightest thing to do. Personally I don't think ol'gal was working with a full deck or was particularly sadistic in her own right.. .either way...

As for the guys that killed her? I don't condone their actions but it is hard to fault them for it. Here, they would get off. Yelena Skoryatina's goading and the like would be synonymous with 'instigation'. Beating the hell out of someone for instigation isn't against the law, but killing them maybe...

You have to keep in mind a lot of people do that sort of thing simply for shock value and to gain attention.

You have to keep in mind that she (and possibly they) were drunk at the time..

  joker

spilled out a joke that wasn't too funny.

it is wrong to kill someone like that but the victim was stupid for saying that to him.

War does strange things to a person mental state

and regardless of whether are war is legal or inhumane the mental anguish effects people in different ways. For a war that is pritty recent in history it was careless for this woman to make jokes particulary in siding with the enemy of the state. The although not surprising reaction of the guard was extreme to say the least but may be justified in the eyes of the majority, murder is murder and now this guard and his brother must face the consequences of their actions. I bet you dont here about anymore jokers like this for a good long while.

  ble!

This is Putin's way (via controlling the media) of telling people to shut up about Chechnya. It plays to the (generally true) stereotype of Russian villagers drinking so much that they slaughter each other over stupid jokes. In turn, the people don't talk about Chechnya very much.

Mosnews can be considered a bogus news site, as far as most people in my region are concerned. It's a political tool used by the KGB... I mean, Putin's administration.

Moral of the story- don't be a vodka monkey! Stolinachya ble...

  Stupid or not!

Instead of going out of the way of killing someone of no obvious threat is worse. They tortured this woman over a drunken scene. Snipers kill, they don't do anything close to what this guy did. Just one more reason war is stupid.
