During the last 10 days Egypt freed about 900 Gamaa Islamiya militants including Najeh Ibrahim who is one of the initiators and leaders.
The militant Gamaa (Group) was responsible for the 1997 Luxor attack and other attacks on Christians and tourists.
This release was not the first as hundreds were released in 2003. The group announced a truce since 1999 after being crushed by Egyptian security forces.
The 2003 Luxor attack occured when 6 guys dressed as egyptian cops attacked the pharaonic temple grounds, shot the 4 security guards who, incidentially were standing by the metal detector entrance and then ran in shooting the tourists in the foot. Then they turned and started smiting the tourists above the neck as ordered by Abu Bakr's koran. The gamaa islamiya terrorists then got a little creative and stabbed the tourists in their body and inserted pieces of papers in the cuts with all kind of crap written on it, similar to the Theo Van Goth murder. 45 minutes later when the egyptian commandos moved in, the 6 assaillants ran in the desert and shot each other in a cave after getting surrounded. The 58 tourists included men women and children and except for the 4 cops were all kafirs and unbelievers.
And for anyone claiming jihad just means personal struggle to improve oneself here is what Abu Bakr thought what the jihad is when he produced the first version of the koran:
(koran Sura 47.4) "When you meet the unbelievers in jihad, chop off their heads. And when you have brought them low, bind your prisoners rigorously. Then set them free or take ransom from them until the war is ended."
