Air Force One Hoax

Tuesday, a two minute grainy video began circulation on the Web showing the President's plane, Air Force One, being sprayed with graffiti saying 'Still Free.' It was all a hoax. Marc Ecko of Marc Ecko Enterprises employed the pranksters.

Ecko said, "I wanted to do something culturally significant, wanted to create a real pop-culture moment, it's this completely irreverent, over-the-top thing that could really never happen."

Friday it was revealed how this could have been pulled off well enough to make the Air Force check to see whether or not the plane was messed with, a rented 747 was painted to match the Air Force One.

does look pretty believable until you question why a graff artist would risk being shot on site just to tag a website url on air force one. by the way, mark ecko sucks.

  expensive prank

it costs a fortune to paint a plane with normal airline colors. It must of cost this guy a ton to replicate the paint job of Air Force One

the video shows a couple guys climbing over fences on a military base and sneaking past armed guards. i'm not sure what the protocol is, but i am sure they'd do whatever is necessary to keep anyone suspicious away from tampering with the president's plane.

  Yes Graffiti

What a good way to show dissent. Be a complete dickhead about it. That way the government will use tax payers dollers to repaint the whole plane.
But what do those people care, 99% of the time people who do the graffiti dont have jobs to pay taxes anyway, just suck off society.

you have no idea what you're talking about.

Oh they would have been shot...

after a warning, before they reached the plane. You NEVER disrespect the office, ever. American readers, if you lack respect for true Patriots, the ones you disgrace by applauding an activity like this - then leave. No one keeps you in this country. "Hippie" style protests and cries for revolution did not work in the 70s, they aren't going to work now. If you truly protest, the effect POSITIVE change. Whole communities improve when a few people demonstrate by cleaning up; getting kids off the streets, not rioting and whining. Scale up and put the leadership you really want in place; it has been done before.

The only thing culturally significant about this was to show what assholes with money are capable of doing in a feeble attempt to make a statement. But hey, here we are talking about it so it must have worked - so I'm going to stop talking about it right now.

S: Not all dissent is cheap for the government, nor should it be. This idea that we should be objecting to our government if it's not too much trouble for them has really gotten ridiculous. I say the same of politicians being decried, denounced, and disregarded for being too angry and "unhinged." God forbid we speak or act with passion and conviction. I wonder what success the original American colonists would have met with restraining themselves so?

"I've got it - let's dump tea into the Boston Harbor to show our outrage!"

"No, no, that would be costly and inconsiderate of us...we need another round of letter writing! And we shall make those letters exceptionally stern!"

K: You have got to be kidding, or you have no idea what it is to be American beyond bumper stickers and little flags. To claim protests decades ago had no effect because the cries of the most extreme for an overthrow of the government did not succeed shows a ridiculously simplistic understanding of what they were trying to accomplish and what they actually DID accomplish. The "protest" you suggest is not even protest, it's simple civic responsiblity - a good idea, but apples to oranges. It's like suggesting the way to affect major change at your child's school is to pick up litter on the playground!

American readers, if you lack the capacity to understand that freedom is not free and that patriotism does not mean submission to the government in word and deed, get out. There are plenty of monarchies and dictatorships who would love to have you.
