Michael Barrett was waiting for the ball when AJ Pierzynski plowed over him to score the first run of the 7-0 Whitesox win over the Cubs Saturday.
Michael Barrett then reacted by getting up and slugging Pierzynski across the face. The punch led to the clearing of both benches and stalling the game for 13 minutes.
Barrett said, "Ierzynski had every right to run into him, but added that the White Sox's catcher -- who always seems to be in the middle of wild plays -- got up and nudged him after the collision, instead of heading toward his dugout."
