The BBC has confirmed that former pop star Billie Piper will be leaving the "Dr Who" series at the end of the current season, after just two seasons on the show. The network has not named any possible replacements for her role as Rose Tyler.
Reports are speculating that the character will be killed off, though BBC has refused to confirm the reports. Russel T Davies, the show's head writer, said Piper would be given "a stunning exit" and added they'd been writing the scene for a year.
Piper said of her departure: "Rose and I have gone on the most incredible journey over the past two years. I am truly indebted to Russell and to all the Doctor Who fans old and new who have been so supportive."
