Cars Set to Become iPod-Ready

The Apple Computer Inc this week announced that it has signed a deal with major automakers GM, Ford and Mazda that will see some 70% of the companies' lineup come equipped with an iPod integration system as early as next year.

All of Mazda's 2007 models will come equipped with the iPod system. The system will be integrated with the car's glove box, and users will be able to access their iPod playlists with normal radio controls, and the iPod will be charged simultaneously.

It is assumed that the iPod integration system will be a dealer-installed extra for car buyers.

Yes, but most don't come with the built-in charger. Although mind you, that is certainly not a big deal.

I just wish they would start putting AC jacks in cars so I don't have to go out and buy a damn adapter for everytime I want to hookup my PSP or (insert other electrical device) to my car's cigarette lighter.

  @ Daev
They already do make something like that, its just not a factory option.

Theres this box that gets connected to the engine, and you get an AC plug that gets mounted in the console. I think its called a DC Inverter. Not sure on the name.

your right, you can even have up to 4 plug ports. and its been around for a decade. but here is the thing it works off the voltage from your alternator. and it usually makes enough for the comming driver, but the more strain on the alternator past the ammount its suppose to be steady at will burn more gas.

But some cars do have it built in. I have the converter you are speaking off, use it when I am driving around with my laptop. Nothing like gaming while driving.. (j/k) But I got my wife a new sante fe a few months ago, and it has a 120V jack built into the car.
