Mark Andrew Hayes, 39, a teacher in a Melbourne High School, was jailed for six months for having sex with a student he called "sexy horny schoolgirl". He pleaded guilty to one count of sexual penetration of a child in his care.
Judge Jennifer Coate stated that Hayes had exchanged up to 400 text messages with the school girl and had planned the offence. It could not be claimed that the crime was a foolish lapse of judgment.
"What you have done has breached a precious trust placed on you to guide the teenager through life and you have rocked the foundation of our system for teaching young people," Judge Coate stated.
