A 1939 Auto Union D-Type specially created by Ferdinand Porsche at the request of Hitler will be auctioned by Christie's in Paris early next year. The car is one of only two D-Types known to exist.
Hitler planned to use the car to flaunt the technological prowess of the Third Reich. The vehicle generates 485 horse-power and has a top speed of just under 300km/h. (186mph)
Almost no D-Types survived World War II but this one was captured by the Russians who disassembled it to study the tech. It was rediscovered during the 1990s and is expected to eclipse the previous record price for a car which stands at £5.5 million.
