Toxoplasma Gondi Turns Women On

Toxoplasma gondi, a common parasite, can turn women into 'sex kittens' and make men more stupid says Nicky Boulter, a researcher at Sydney University. About 40% of the world's population is infected with this parasite including 8 million Australians.

Humans are infected when they eat raw or undercooked meat that has cysts containing the parasite or accidentally ingest some of the parasite's eggs excreted by an infected cat. It was thought that the infection was not serious until now.

In the latest issue of Australasian Science Dr Boulter writes about her findings and in particular the way the infection affects men and women differently. "It can make men behave like alley cats and women behave like sex kittens" stated Dr Boulter.

  Umm...

"..accidentally ingest some of the parasite's eggs excreted by an infected cat..."

How does that work, precisely?

Maybe I'm just not current on culinary traditions in Australia.

  Suicide Parasite

Settle down. It makes women more 'outgoing and friendly' as quoted from the last SN article. I don't think it will turn women into uncontrollable sex-monsters (a la Shivers). Still...

Though the long term effects of infection is unknown, it should me noted that it causes suicidal tendencies in lesser animals like fish and mice. And being a brain-bug, it's hard/impossible to cure.

 by: redstain   12/27/2006 11:10 PM
  Uh yeah,

I knew of this mouse that committed suicide once and a fish that was thinking about it.
