Woman Enjoys Large Glass of Antifreeze, Dies

An Alaskan woman is dead after drinking a significant quantity of antifreeze. The woman, who was looking for something to drink, came across a soft drink container. Unbeknownst to her, the container was actually filled with the deadly chemical.

She cracked it open, and began to drink it. Apparently, she somehow thought it was a glass of home brew, and continued consuming the liquid. Soon, her husband began drinking it with her. The woman then began to feel ill, then promptly died.

Paramedics were called, and her husband was taken to a hospital. He told troopers he had a few sips, but that his wife had much more. He claimed they didn't know what they were drinking. His condition at this time is not known.

Green home brew... that wouldn't be a good thing to drink no matter what it could be...

Supposedly, the stuff actually tastes pretty sweet, though I'm wondering why someone would drain it out of its antifreeze bottle only to put it in a coke bottle...

  Not surprising, really

I mistakenly drank AntiFreeze once. Someone had put it in a glass and I thought it was lemonade.

I would have drank the whole thing if someone hadn't stopped me. It tasted really sweet!

Why do people put things like that in containers that it seem harmless? So dangerous. . .

I was about to raise a stink as to why this was in the Entertainment category, when I saw that it is labelled under 'Food and Drink'. Mmmm. Tasty.

  I thought that

antifreeze manufacturers were going to make the taste of it very objectionable for this very reason. (Sarcasm follows) Hey, why don't we just make a poison that tastes good?

How do you just drink random drinks?

where is their common sense? My girlfriends brother, through a mix up, accidentally drank bleach. He realized that it was bleach, made himself throw up, and called poison control. Turns out you just have to eat a bunch of bread to soak it up and pass it more or less harmlessly through your system! Bread is good!

  poor woman

dying by anti-freeze is apparently a really painful and horrible way to go.

That's a "wives tale", so to say. Eating bread does not stop things such as antifreeze and alcohol from being absorbed by your body and taking effect.

Can anyone imagine this lady walking around outside with her husband... ice is on the ground... all the water is frozen over... She says "Ohh looky here a miracle! A bottle of green liquid that isn't frozen! Our lucky day! Mmmm... Here sweety try it."
