13% of Americans Have Never Heard Of Global Warming
A 46-country survey by ACNielsen has shown that despite being the number one source of greenhouse gases that 13 percent of the American population have never heard of global warming.
Currently The USA comes first in greenhouse gas emissions ahead of China, Russia and India although the study also showed that Americans are the least concerned about global warming.
The survey also showed that countries affected by natural disasters seemed most concerned including Latin Americans and the Czech Republic which was hit by floods in 2002.
this can't be true. even fox news has mentioned global warming, though in a dismissive manner. maybe 13 percent said they've never heard of it because they don't want to acknowledge it. sounds like that much of the country are still neocon idiots with their heads in the sand.
Because on television, which is Americans' top source for news, stations have an unwritten rule to discuss topics like global warming, etc., as little as possible. The reason? Car commercials are a big source of revenue.
Evolution -- a word that many teachers, particularly in conservative areas, are afraid to bring up in the classroom. I recently spoke to a Republican Christian who was flabbergasted at the idea that Darwin was a Christian at the time he conducted most of his scientific investigation. This guy honestly thought that Darwin had set out with the goal of proving that God doesn't exist.
Bush's lack of a brain -- For a really good explanation of why Americans don't hear or absorb much about Bush's blunders, the flaws in his plans, etc., go to Google video and watch "The Myth of the Liberal Media." Fact is, large media conglomerates are owned mainly by ultraconservatives such as Rupert Murdoch, who set the agenda for their organization's reporting. And let's be honest -- however liberal journalists may be, they're not going to be allowed to defy the conservative ownership. Do you think Ford producion line workers could start building hybrids against the wishes of the company's CEO?
So here's why a lot of Americans don't know the truth about important issues -- it's difficult to get the truth in America; you have to make a special effort to find it; it's not just served up to you. I don't believe that Americans are lazy in this respect -- I just think it doesn't occur to most people to question whether what they're being told by the government and the mainstream media is true.
13% of Americans haven’t even heard of flush toilets. 13% think Paris Hilton is hot. 13% think Gump was justified in attacking Iraq “cause they have WMD’s”. 13% of Americans are idiots. And as head spokeswoman for all the idiots of the world I think if you checked worldwide you would find that most countries will uphold this figure, not just America. Excuse me while I go use my outhouse...yes I do have an outhouse, in fact I have two, just in case one won't flush.
actually they did poll internationally. Only 9% of the whole world are idiots. (or uneducated.) And only 4% in South America.
What do these statistics tell you? S. American idiots have migrated north of course! Probably stuck in florida which would explain a lot of strange news items we get from there.
Wasn't trying to link to the Paris Hilton story; rather, the story with the headline: 'Scientists Claim Climate Change Reports Doctored by Bush Admin '
I think you need to leave your racist comments aside, the study is talking about Americans, I assume, American citizens as most of these studies are. Let me give you a little statistic here:
In 1980, Mexican Americans comprised 60 percent of all Hispanics in the United States. By 1989, they were estimated to comprise 63 percent of all U.S. Hispanics (U.S. Census Bureau, 1990). If this proportion merely holds constant, the Mexican-American population in the year 2080 would account for approximately 13 percent of the total U.S. population (based on data in Spencer, 1986).
So, based on that information, I would assume there aren´t as many South Americans here in the US, I dont say there arent any because I am South American and I know plenty, but they DO NOT compare to other hispanic communities in the US, especially Mexicans. If you want to continue your racist ramble, do so appropiately refering yourself to North American immigrants, because even if you can´t accept it Mexicans are North Americans.
by the way, read the source, as I just did, it clearly says 'Thirteen percent of U.S. citizens said they had never heard or read anything about global warming, the survey said.'
You may have a point. I'm not sure how this generalizes to Latin America as a whole, but a lot of nations have a sharp divide between the well-educated and well-to-do and the poor and uneducated. So, the well-informed would be the only people accessible to survey takers, being the only ones able to afford internet access.
Not saying this is the case, but it's one of those things to consider when you plan your sampling methods in research.
