Female Teacher Gets Jail Time for Giving Student Oral Sex
25-year-old health and physical education teacher Rebekah M Todd has been sentenced to six months jail time after her plea bargain was ignored by a judge in Tacoma, Washington. She initially plead guilty to charges of attempted second-degree assault.
According to evidence prosecutors had, a 17-year-old male student at White River High School received oral sex from Todd in April last year.
After the Buckley teacher was initially accused of the incident, she decided to forfeit her teaching certificate and resigned.
these stupid laws created by these "family values" nuts. How was the boy harmed? Did she bite him, or something? I wish that i had a teacher like this.
Personally, I think this stuff has more to do with a teacher abusing his/her position than it has to do with harming the student. Sorta like how a boss shouldn't be having relations with employees. Criminal charges do seem rather pointless.
I understand the sexual harassment laws and the position of power clause so hold up on the flaming, but how exactly was she going to use her 'power' to punish this boy if he didn't stick his male member in her mouth? It's kinda hard to fail PE as long as you show up and participate.
And don't even say that "If this hot teacher was a guy and the poor victim was a girl then you would see things differently." 25 and 17 are honestly not that far apart, and I don't know about Washington but most states give sexual consent at 16. If I was that male student I would punch the neck of whoever ruined my daily post-PE fellatio by ratting out that teacher.
this thing has really exploded in the teacher's face. it's also too bad everyone blew it for the student. that just sucks. It's not easy to get head of the class when you've got such a heavy load. however, i find defense of the teacher a bit hard to swallow.
the judge just ripped the guts out of a very useful legal tool, the plea bargain. Normal reserved for people informing on worse criminal etc, how can anyone trust a plea bargain when this judge refuses to honour them? Not a good precident to start.
It is so easy to say it was just a young guy and a young woman having fun, but it wasn't. It was a TEACHER and a STUDENT. That can't ever be OK. There is a built in level of trust and of authority in that relationship - there has to be! She could have gone to any bar and found willing guys to give b--- j--s to. And unless he was one of the lost and lonely he could have found one elsewhere. If he couldn't, thats why she targeted him. And if it was TRUE LOVE, which it doesn't seem to be - they could have waited til he graduated - then no one would be in trouble.
all i gotta say is this - if it was a male teacher and a female student, it would be a whole different set of posts....
and if it's "human nature"....then why couldn't she just wait till he graduated? Teachers know they can't have any types of relationships with students while the student is in school. That's how it is.
Just like you can't have any relationships with your co-workers....because if something happens, EVERYONE is affected.
Yall need to get out of your "AAAH SHE'S HOT SO IT'S OK!" mode and return to the common sense i hope you have. Unless, you would be confortable knowing your boss/teacher is having sex with another coworker/student....and those raises/A's...they're really from hard work and nothing else.
I just wonder if the arrest came about as a result of the boy complaining? I realize it is illegal in either case, but who would care unless she was a hag.

While it may be inconvenient, what's called for here is an understanding that different circumstances dictate different responses. It doesn't seem like this woman's career should have to end because of this.
Dude. Repeal the laws? Ok. Since you have assigned yourself the ultimate moral athority of the subject. Let me know at what age it would not have been ok in your book of high moral standards. If he'd been 7 or 10. Kindergarten perhaps. 5 or 6. Just tell me where your morals allow people to step in and say no. The teacher was hunting for a hard one and she found one. It was aparently the only thing on her mind. When she should have been teaching, she decided to measure up some meat in stead. I personally think her punishment should have been a simple firing. The boy was in no way harmed. If you don't like my values then I's have to say in comparison you might not have any. It sounds like a NAMBLA argument coming from you. Are you registered or what?
I think this woman should be thrown in jail for a long time.
Enough with the double standards already, if a man did this to a female student, there would be public outrage.
..But because it was a male student with a female teacher, he's now a hero.
Just like if there is a nice guy who does something bad...it looks much worse than it really is. But if a bad ass- type of guy does something bad, no one really cares, this goes for males or females...
although he wasn't really harmed, i still think she should be punished. Not to sound to conservative but double standards are rarely a good thing, and this is one of those cases where the law should stand firm even if the popular opinion is against it lest this sort of thing become acceptable.
Sorry VN. I was not really trying to say he was. just meant that it seems like the type of "must justify at any cost" argument. You never know who's here to comment. Hey. The woman's guilty of it. I see it as minor. Fire her til she can do something other than hunt for sex at a school and we all move on. Just don't try to say all the laws are bad because that's just the other side of crazy. It's a sign that the man comes from a biased situation. Not that he's bad but I'd be as concerned if some jackass called for her death. It's just a bit far for me.
If the kid was "of age" and consented, shouldn't she just be fired? The whole "if this was in the workplace" argument is all well and good... except you don't end up in jail if you're having "relations" with your employee. I don't see why this should be any different if the sexes were reversed... But hey, that's just my opinion.
Although the laws in Washington seem to show the age of consent being 16, they, apparently, have special lawns concerning a teacher/student relationship.
Why does it same like most of these female teachers that have sex with students in Washington, are smokin hot? as suppose to other states, the teachers in question are really ugly, even the ones in california? it just seems to me as though i grew up in the wrong state...
I've heard that female preying mantis eat the male's stuff because it provides protein. If it is the same for humans and she is a health instructor, perhaps she was showing an example of how to get protein into a woman's body. Besides, teachers are people too.
I'm not so sure she was hunting down students so she could give them blow jobs (maybe she was, lol). Sometimes things like this happen (as appalling as that may be to some).
I'm not sure firing her will do much good Shikiko. IMO transferring her to an all girls school or something similar might help. This one mistake might have ruined her life... Is that really what we're going for here...to ruin people's lives for their mistakes? Maybe we could forgive them and rehabilitate instead.
Instead of treating the female teachers equally with the males by making them serve jail time for something as simple as oral sex; change the standard the other way. Dont throw the male teachers in jail for having sex with their female students. That way both men and women are treated equal for having sex with a student.
Secondly; I think the 17 year old boy in this case probably pursude the teacher more than she went after him. Lets be real. 17 is not a little boy sucking his thumb and thinking about cartoons. They are thinking about getting laid.
