Wrestlers Give Teacher Wedgie, Teacher Bites Student, Teacher Reprimanded

A teacher has been reprimanded by both the state and the district for biting a student who was part of a group attempting to give him a wedgie. The Teacher Standards and Practices Commission called his actions a "gross neglect of duty".

"At least six wrestlers, weighing between 180 and 215 lb each, came up to Mr. Porath… in an attempt to give him a 'wedgie'. In the process of getting the boys off of him, Mr. Porath bit… a wrestler's leg leaving… teeth marks," said the commission.

The teacher now coaches baseball instead of wrestling according to Woodburn Superintendent Walt Blomberg. The wrestlers were disciplined but not suspended. Neither the student nor his family pursued a complaint.

  Seeing

as he IS the teacher and he didn't want these wrestlers to give him that wedgie couldn't this be seen as an assault?
If that is the case wouldn't the teacher be in his right to protect himzelf?

someone should tell these wrestlers that a wedgie isn't a wrestling move...

and if there wrestler why did it take atleast 6 to ATTEMPT to give him a wedgie... and why a wedgie.. .a headlock is easier and is actually a wrestling move.

  I wrestled...

In Junoir High, High School, and College. Sometimes things just get out of hand. Especially if you have a group of teenaged boys whose 'normal personal space' isn't what societal norms are. And don't get me wrong, all wrestlers are not 'degenerates of society'.. Well, actually, we are.
But you get my point. This probably started out as a "Let's see who can take coach down" and turned into "Let's give coach a wedgie!"
and went down hill from there...

If they had just de-pantsed him, he would not have had such a negative reaction. Who among ye has been depantsed during PE?

The teacher could of done much worese..

The teacher could of done much worse than just biting them. I'm sure the school district has one of those Zero tolerance codes and those wrestlers could of went away for a long time for assualt, failed all thier courses and be held back due to tiem in juvie and suspensions. The only reason the kids got away with is because they are school athletes. If it was anyone else they'd have SWAT on the roof with sniper rifles.
