Tornado Watch Was Activated in North Texas

As of Tuesday evening, local sirens have alerted North Texas residents to take shelter. The severe weather developed into massive cyclones that hit several areas in North Texas.

A report came in that a funnel cloud was seen over northeast Arlington, Texas. This sighting is most likely what sparked the tornado warning.

Wind blew the topped of a residential building in Arlington. Nobody was reported injured despite hail the size of golf balls and torrential down pours that were reported in Tarrant County. Many vehicles pulled off the freeways to avoid the hail.

  This sounds like...

...when I was driving through New Mexico. I had gotten about 10 miles out of Alburquerque(SP?) when a heavy hail storm came through. I couldn't even see the 18-wheeler in front of me and I nearly hit him twice. That's when I decided to pull over at a nearby Holiday Inn and wait the storm out.

  I was..

Reading that the Atlantic is predicted to be very active, storm-wise, this year. Could end up being very interesting.

  why is this story...

posted on sn? this story has nothing to do with the general population of the world. this is just for texas only. i don't know where arlington is, i have never even heard of it. don't waste posts by putting stories a majority of people don't even care about.

  @also

almost everyone in the u.s.a. knows that texas is part of tornado alley. i sure hope you or other sn users won't post everytime a tornado strikes down. this site would become very boring...

Please note--> This summary is posted under channels Regional, then United States, then Texas. Summaries are not required to be of a global event. It's nice to talk about the weather every now and again.

  What the...?

Who is the idiot that gave me a bad rating for this story? Was that you Melody? Just like Classy said, if you didn't like this story you didn't have to read it. And I would like to suggest that you look at the category this story was posted under. "Regional-United States-Texas" so yeah it only has to do with Texas. Maybe someone has family or friends in Arlington or Tarrant County and this will let them know what happened.

@any mod: Is it possible to take off the bad rating because I feel like I was given a bad rating without a justified reason.

  It was..

Posted because it is news. I have no idea where you got the (mistaken) impression that only 'global' news is supposed to be reported here, especially since one of the categories is 'regional'..

  When

sirens go off, it's a tornado warning. just wanted to clear this up. The title could be changed accordingly.

Gee thanks. I was just about to post a summary about the cutest little kitten that was run over by a fire engine in Houston.

I always figured that a tornado watch

didn't have sirens sounding. Only a tornado warning sounds the alarms?

I guess I've been away from the States longer than I thought.

  This is..

Posted under regional... and not to mention as someone else said, it's a great break from the fighting us board members often do.

  alright jon

i'll give you a positive since my rating was taken off. i just think you could have chosen a more interesting topic than this one. i've seen other topics you have chosen and this is one of the least interesting. in other words, it's a bit below you as a reporter.

  Not unusual

It's Texas. It happens all the time.
