Teacher Charged Over Simulated "Gorilla Sex"

Harold Skinner, a teacher at White Knoll High School, has been charged with simple assault and battery after he showed how a gorilla might copulate on a 17-year-old male student. The students were improvising gorilla behaviour for a drama class.

According to Sheriff James Metts Skinner "grabbed a student by putting his hands on his torso from the rear then thrust his pelvis into the student several times, acting as a gorilla would act under a sexual-type situation."

The student, who found the incident "distasteful and embarrassing" filed a complaint. Skinner, who has been placed on administrative leave until the matter has been resolved, would not comment beyond saying he had requested a jury trial.

  I have a question

What has gone wrong with teachers in the last couple of years?

  by: ixuzus     04/15/2007 06:04 AM
  hmmmm

I'd say the guy had a momentary lapse of judgment, A little over the top even for drama class.

for the UK? no idea.

  um

wait a minute, you mean this isn't normal? at least it was only simulated sex. back in my day, the nuns would bring in real gorillas, donkeys, priests, and congressmen to have their way with us. now the PC police are taking something educational and turning it into something perverted. damn liberals.

  someone should

put him in a gorilla suit, take him to the local zoo, toss him in the cage for a few, with a randy male gorilla for a few hours... see what he makes of simulated gorilla sex (after all, wouldnt it be a simulation, since both parties arent really gorillas?)

  Rather

try to do an example without having a student as a puppet, like the invisible chair?

I doubt that even an employee at a company with disagree and take legal actions if someone did that to him, and yes, a student is a client too.

This was a questionable act on the part of the gorilla teacher but is it true that the student is pure and clean of bias. Would anyone in the jury really judge the teacher fairly. How is it you people fight against natural gorilla behavior? Every sex ed class is a chance for a responsible person to effect things. Many americans are simply too stupid to pay attention to issues and hold teachers responsible but that is the fault of the student. I think it's a big stretch to think that there is only inappropriate behavior on one side of the issue. Instead of uniting and correcting the issues we simply pick teams and think our species can do no wrong, that our species owns the ultimate right and wrong definition. Are any of you guilty of that?

  "distasteful and embarrassing"

I bet the teacher was just trying to teach. Even if he was trying to hump the student, embarrassing a student is considered assault and battery?

IMO it's the student's fault for thinking it's embarrassing.

Law should not be enforced in matters of opinion, but that's just my opinion.

  Interesting

but what was the exact environment like?
I did drama before and i know when someone can't act something out, the teacher/director sometimes show them directly using someone else or the person themselves to demonstrate.
Maybe that wasthe case?
if it wasn'tand the student felt offended then i see where he is coming from.
Hmmm, is it just me or does anyone think R&B clubs should have more cameras so people can sue in such situations?!
=P

  @Shikiko

Will you stop putting your name in the subject line of your posts. That line is for you to address your audience whether it be directed at another member of the community or the community as a whole. I am beginning to wonder if you do that because you are really talking to yourself. You are listed as the author of the post automatically. We all know you are here and we appreciate your contributions to the community. Thanks.

I agree, every weekend I see "Gorilla Sex" at the local R&B clubs. Most of the time, its not me thats doing it...

I already asked him to stop. He says he likes his name and prefers to see it. Personally every time I read his posts I get confused. It never really clicks what he/she is talking about.

And on the issue of the Gorilla Sex... maybe the student shouldnt allow the teacher to hump him. Thats just my position. The teacher should spend some time demonstrating accountability for actions.

  @tomblik, kuhl, admin

@Tom - Don't assume he is stupid just because he puts his name in the subject line. I know you didn't say it directly, but you implied it and that's not nice. His choice to put his name in the subject line could be for any number of reasons, some rooted in cultural difference we just don't understand in the west. I'd just let it be.

@kuhl - Its pretty clear that English is not Shikiko's primary language. To be unable to mentally re-sort the grammer and the thought process is more an insult to your intelligence than his. How many languages do you speak?

@both of you+admin - shikiko and .shikiko are two different users. .shikiko is clearly a troll. Unless I'm just totally out of the loop and Shikiko made another account after he was banned. Can't admins see the IP users log in from? I hate to say there is even a good chance even that .shikiko was created by another regular SN user that for some reason harbors an immature ill-will towards him.

I hate the inseparable pun here, but if either of you would open your eyes a little bit more, you wouldn't have needed somebody to tell you this. Wars start with hate, hate starts with misunderstanding, and misunderstanding starts with close-mindedness and/or ignorance. You're attacking a guy for something that he probably didn't even do. How would you feel if somebody logged onto .kuhl or .tomblik, started saying totally rediculous, and then half of SN attacked your name for it?

Well I would appreciate the attention.

And no the person talks the same way the same Shik does so he probably forgot his password or logs in from another computer.
It doesn't say anything of my intellect or my ability to reason through his cultural context, and also you are a hypocritical ass.

Why are we changing all topics

to personal attacks?
this is a news website, not a personal attack website.
So what if it is the first shikiko, the fact we dont agree with the opinion doesn't make the person wrong. Voicing opinions by insulting is not the best way to convince others, so lets have civilized debates please!

The teacher definitely crossed the line here. I know if that happened to me, I'd be pissed.

Off topic: There seem to be three Shikikos right now. .Shikiko, Shikiko_(or something like that), and the original that we all know and love.

  Come on!!

When I was in school we were lucky if we were instructed using an example as evolved and similar to us as a gorilla. usually the instructor would just bring in a goat or something.
